Sirapite CD
Price £10 plus p&p
Over 120 years ago, the Leiston Royal British Legion band started life associated with Richard Garrett & Sons. Given their long association with the works, the band decided to record a CD of brass band favourites to celebrate that close relationship, and also the return to the Long Shop of the very rare shunting engine, Sirapite, restored to full working order by Trevor Wrench with much assistance from volunteers and many local engineering firms.
The concert march Sirapite, and the slow march Main Street were commissioned by Leiston Royal British Legion Band from Suffolk composer and railway enthusiast Stewart Green to mark this special occasion. The grandeur of the march is an indication of the machine's engineering importance, whilst Main Street depicts the little engine slowly trundling across the road - a man with a red flag holding up the traffic while she passes. Proceeds from the sale of this CD will support the work of the Long Shop Museum and the Leiston British Legion Band.

The Big Freeze, Leiston, Suffolk
Price £7.50 plus p&p
A unique collection of photographs of Leiston recording the Big Freeze on January 8, 2010. Limited Edition.
Friday, 8 January 2010 began a period which saw some of the coldest weather for 100 years. With exceptionally heavy snowfall overnight and sub-zero temperatures during the day, travel on the roads and by public transport was severely restricted and most schools remained closed. Temperatures in some parts of Britain were colder than the South Pole! Despite the bitterly cold temperatures and a biting wind Stephen Mael, Manager of the Long Shop Museum, and his colleague Simon Middleditch set out on foot, with camera in hand, to record Leiston under a blanket of snow that was up to 20cms (8in) deep in places.
150 of their selected photographs have now been produced on CD (playable on computer or television), providing a remarkable record of the town as a winter wonderland! So don't miss out on this unique photographic record of Leiston as it has been produced as a LIMITED EDITION of 100 copies, each costing £7.50, with all net proceeds from the sale for the benefit of the Long Shop Project Trust, a registered charity (No 283444).
