Visitor Information

2009 was the Long Shop Museum's 25th Anniversary, and what's more it celebrated record visitor numbers with over 13,000 people coming to discover the fantastic displays and stories, take part in some brilliant events and learn something new.
The Museum is open to the public from April to October but groups are welcome all year by prior arrangement - you can book here.
We offer guided tours and activity sessions specifically geared for each group and are pleased to discuss ideas with teachers before a visit and evaluate sessions and display pupils work afterwards.
An educational visit to the Long Shop Steam Museum will help pupils to build up a picture of a famous person like Richard Garrett III or Elizabeth Garrett Anderson (KS1); or help pupils to build up a picture of the lives of working people in an industrial town in the Victorian era (KS2/3), and make links between then and now.
We are also able to help with research enquiries and have books available in the Museum shop including 'Don't Stop the Tally!' Education Pack for Key Stages 1,2 & 3.
