Volunteering at the Long Shop Museum

There are lots of great opportunities to get involved at the Long Shop Museum in lots of rewarding volunteer roles.
"Within a short while [of volunteering], I'd become completely hooked... Gradually, over the past three years or so, I've become increasingly caught up in the resoration of Sirapite - cleaning, painting and helping to assemble various parts... don't hold back: become a volunteer!" (Denis Gahagan, volunteer at the Long Shop)
"Last winter I helped to record Museum items on to a computer as part of the Museum's transfer from paper to electronic storage of data and soon I hope to be helping to put information on to a touch screen for the public to enjoy... There is probably some aspect of volunteering that would appeal to anybody who has a bit of spare time..." (Penelope Hewitt Brown, volunteer at the Long Shop)
"...no matter how you feel when you walk in, that gets swept to one side as you become engulfed in the life of the museum. Whether it is something you can solve or not, you are included, in my case, from sweeping up to helping solve a problem much bigger. Also, you never really know what is going on, so when you arrive nine times out of ten it's a surprise, which is good, as it means you don't get bored with the same thing each time." (Keith Skilton, volunteer at the Long Shop)
