COVID-19 Long Shop Museum Update

Due to the recent publishing of the government guidelines on the COVID-19 situation, the Museum has made the difficult decision to SUSPEND ALL MUSEUM EVENTS for the foreseeable future. This will unfortunately include our popular Steam Up! event, which was scheduled to be held at the end of this month.

This decision has been made to safeguard our staff, volunteers and visitors. We hope to be able to reschedule some of the events once the situation has stabilised and government advice indicates that it is safe to do so.

Despite the suspension of events, the museum will remain open at the following times:

  • Wednesday 25th, Thursday 26th and Friday 27th March – 10am to 4pm (last admission 3pm)
  • Wednesday 1st, Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd April – 10am to 4pm (last admission 3pm)
  • Monday 6th April onwards – open 6 days a week (Mon-Sat) and closed Sundays – 10am – 4pm (last admission at 3pm)

We still aim to keep our collections open to those who would like to visit until further notice. This may be subject to change, so do please follow us on social media for up-to-date information and notices.

We are still looking forward to welcoming you to our wonderful Museum to view our new displays and celebrate our local history.
